IGEN SDG Research Community Projects, aligned with UN International Youth Day and United Nations Global Goals Week Celebration 2026, is a flagship initiative of the IGEN Research & Innovation Consortium designed to inspire and empower college students, mentored by faculty members, to undertake meaningful SDG-focused community research and generate evidence-based outcomes that contribute to achieving the SDG targets.

International Research Opportunity with UNITEN Malaysia
Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), Malaysia will consider offering a Junior Research Assistant opportunity to the best-performing team after successful submission of the research report, supporting joint research and potential Scopus-indexed publication.

🟢 Funded Research Track
Category I – IGEN SDG Research Micro-Grant
Eligibility: Students from IGEN Green Sustainability Academic Partner Institutions and IET Hyderabad Local Network Partner Institutions.
Selected proposals may receive IGEN Research Funding, subject to evaluation.
🔵 Non-Funded Research Track
Category II – IGEN SDG Research Projects
Eligibility: Open to students and researchers from Non-IGEN Green Sustainability Partner Institutions globally.
Participants receive full academic support, rigorous mentoring, and official evaluation.
🚀 How to Participate in the Research Journey?
Follow these 4 straightforward milestones to prepare and submit your proposal.
Phase 1
Explore & Select
Identify and select an SDG Research Project suggested by the IGEN SDG Research Council.
Phase 2
Build Your Team
Form an interdisciplinary team of 3 to 6 students accompanied by 2 dedicated Faculty Mentors.
Phase 3
Prepare Concept Note
Develop a 2-page concept note explaining planning, community survey methodology, and execution within 169 days.
Phase 4
Submit Proposal
Submit your finalized proposal package through the official Google Submission form portal.

Opportunity 01
International University Research Internship
Top-performing project teams will have the opportunity to receive an International Research Internship with leading universities in Asia, along with research mentorship and publication support, subject to selection and institutional confirmation.
Opportunity 02
UNESCO Greening Education Partnership Appreciation
All selected Micro-Funding Projects focused on Green Action will receive an official Appreciation Letter from the UNESCO Greening Education Partnership (GEP), recognizing their contribution towards sustainability and green action.
Opportunity 03
Official Project Recognition & Certification
Project Order Letter issued at the commencement of the approved project. Project Completion Certificate awarded upon successful completion and submission of the final report, with special merit recognition for high-impact teams.
Opportunity 04
IGEN Press Publication & Global Archiving
Approved research reports will be officially published through IGEN Press. Selected completed reports will also receive Global Digital Archiving preserved through the Internet Archive for perpetual academic reference.
Opportunity 05
IGEN Youth Sustainability Policy 2027 & White Paper Inclusion
Outstanding research projects demonstrating innovation, measurable impact, strong evidence, and scalability may be selected for inclusion in the IGEN Youth Sustainability Policy 2027 and/or an official IGEN Sustainability White Paper. Selected student researchers will receive Contributor Recognition for their contribution to youth-driven sustainability policy development.
